I recently found this little gem again, after having originally read it about ten years ago. Starting with a simple question which ended up taking over 30 years to answer, The programmers' Stone proposes a fascinating theory of the source of creative insight that touches every level of culture, society, religion and neuroscience. Even if you know nothing about computers or programming, This site is well worth the read.

There is a rumor flying around that the Chinese government will unilaterally cancel all OTC derivative related debts of state corporations. The contracts would be considered void as well as any debts owed on losses of the contracts. Whereas congress and the treasury have given away Trillions of dollars to these banks in order to cover losses, secure their jobs and ensure future campaign donations, the Chinese are actually doing the right thing. Unfortunately, it could spell dire consequences for the US economy.

An article over at Silicon Angle by our very own Rizzn takes a closer look at Internet Censorship in the aftermath of the Iranian elections.

From the article:

Renesys, an Internet infrastructure research outfit, has released data today that illuminates a bit on how the government of Iran is restricting access to outside websites to their citizenry.

Best Gaming Console on the Market - Not Xbox 360, Play Station 3 or Wii

This is not a full review; it's just an observation.

Recently, my personal budget has loosened up some what and I decided to get a console gaming system. I looked at the Play Station 3, the Xbox 360 and the Wii. Unfortunately, none of them made the cut.

I can't stand watching tv anymore. There's nothing good on, and if I happen to find something half-asses entertaining, it will be interrupted in minutes by one of those pandering, soft selling, brain dead corporate propaganda films known as commercials. I also hate having to plan my life around the local Fox affiliate's neurotic scheduling department. Fortunately, I don't have to put up with it. I have discovered a way to watch just the shows I want when I want without commercials and in HD if I want. Here's how I did it.

Universal charger is universally stupid

I just read a story on MarketWatch (http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/tech-consumers-could-use-little/story.aspx?guid={1197454F-AABB-47E9-AE02-9FE1A98CD868}&dist=msr_2) about the EU trying to force cell phone and laptop manufacturers to use a universal charger. This is used as an argument that the US government needs to step up their meddling in their citizens' lives. I'm not going to comment on why excessive government regulation is bad or how Mr. Dvorak is a fucking idiot (read Slashdot to find all about him). Instead I'm going to focus on why the charger idea is retarded.

Gone in 60 Days: Citi and BoA Won’t Live to See May

Citigroup (C) and Bank of America (BAC) won’t live to see May. The government will take them over within the next 60 days. The announcement may come as soon as tomorrow evening...

The US government has already committed half a trillion dollars to these two firms which is more than 10 times the amount it would cost to buy and control both companies. The market doesn’t believe that $500 billion is enough to save these companies...

All the kings horses and all the kings men can’t put humpty dumpty back together again.

Sorry about the horrible title. The Game on Tables poker/gaming food and drink table is somewhat hard to describe to people who have never seen or heard of one. The official name is 'gotable' but that's not very descriptive. Basically the gotable is a small, portable, foldable table with built in cup holders and a little bit of table top for food, ash trays, etc.
