And by the way... here's a list of countries who have had women leaders.

Mongolia, People's Republic of China, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia Iceland, Great Britain, San Marino, Malta, Guinea Bissau, the Philippines, Haiti, the German Democratic Republic, Nicaragua, Burundi, Sri Lanka, Liberia, Ecuador, Guyana, Switzerland, Latvia, Panama, Finland, Indonesia, Georgia, Israel, and India.

In the words of Ann Richards, "Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did. She just did it backwards and in high heels."

Let me preface this by recognizing how monumental it is to see a woman on a major party ticket (a la Ferraro/Mondale). If I set aside politics for a moment, I can admit I'm very proud to see a woman in the national spotlight who proves that "the fairer sex" does not have to choose between motherhood and her career. I respect that Palin has the gumption to defend her unwed daughter's pregnancy on national television; it shows me that she actually believes in her touted values (a rare disposition these days.)

But, feminist jaunt aside, let's get down to the brass tacks.

In case you don't troll PerezHilton.com, here's the latest blasphemy committed by the blundering Golem that is MTV.

And in case you're too lazy to click on the link, here's the gist of it.

MTV is planning to remake the Rock Horror Picture Show with an indeterminate cast. And they want to add new music.

Strong literary background + active imagination + twilight boredom =

This is a short story I have "written" using only the opening lines of published novels. Tee hee.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. If you really want to hear about it, the first thing you'll probably want to know is where I was born, and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me, and all that David Copperfield kind of crap, but I don't feel like going into it, if you want to know the truth. All happy families are alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way

Dear Griff Jenkins, you idiot.

I know the whole first amendment thing can be hard to grasp when you're in the market of fabricating spin.

But let's try to be reasonable here. "Freedom of speech" does not obligate a protester to answer your shallow, hostile, ignorant questions. Sure, you have the right to ask them. And everyone else has the right to ignore you and go on about their business.

Don't take it personally.
